Quite a few years ago, I received the first few books of the Leven Thumps series as a Christmas present. Along with the books was a journal.
I used and continue to use that journal to write about how book projects are doing. I thought it would be interesting to share some of those old entries because they talk about ideas that ended up shaping Sparks Shall Rise. The entries start back in 2008 some time after I had left behind my Lord of the Rings fanfic that I spoke about in My First Writing Experiences.

I’m attempting to write a story about another fantasy world. I don’t even know the name of it or the Dark Lord who is the enemy throughout. There will probably be 4 or 5 books. They will have men, elves, dwarves, goblins, and talking animals (phoenixes, flying horses, unicorns, horses, and dogs). I know of some characters already, and have made 2 maps, and started the creation story of Book 1, Chapter 1. It needs some work though, and I am so uncertain about all kinds of things (peoples, places, things, creatures). Well, I’ll continue working to perfect the creation story and give it life, not make it sound boring.
