As I write my books, I realize that there are songs that I have that complement the stories or the characters. So, I thought it would be fun to share them. If movies or a show were ever made, these would be the songs I would want to play during the credits. Alas, that will most likely never happen, so, instead, here are official YouTube videos of the songs.
Disclaimer: I am not claiming or making these songs or artists represent me, my series, or my business in any way, shape, or form. This is just supposed to be something fun for my readers.
Reawakened Flames
Trigger warning: the video content shows mental illness and suicide attempts. I cried the first time I saw this video. Then I watched and listened to it several times. It felt like the song was speaking to my heart and my soul. It was a kind of understanding that you feel like you hardly get from anyone else after you develop mental illness. The song is beautiful and haunting, and I feel like it fits with the themes of Aria’s story arc perfectly.
All throughout the book, Aria and Landa had different struggles, but they both had one thing in common. They both lost their metaphorical fire and fought to regain it. This empowering song fits with that theme.
Visions and Illusions
The Hero in Your Heart – Thomas Bergersen (Feat. Merethe Soltvedt)
Something Wild – Lindsey Stirling, ft. Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness
These two songs really fit with Vision’s story. She didn’t see herself as capable to be a hero and thought that she didn’t belong in her home. It had to take a life-or-death situation for her to see how strong she truly was.
A Stormy Path
Brave Enough – Lindsey Stirling (Feat. Christina Perri)
I chose this song because it speaks to someone having some kind of struggle that makes them have trouble being able to love and accept themselves so that they can move forward. This would definitely be something that Aria is dealing with in A Stormy Path.
Similar to the other one, this song also fits with Aria trying to figure out her life and restoring some kind of normalcy, even if it’s not ever quite the same. Although, that process is easier said than done.
